Mortuarium loop
5:25, 2020
Digitized scratched, spliced, hole-punched and collaged 16mm film, soil, silent.
‘Mortuarium loop’ depicts domestic settings as sites of transcendence, where a lingering absence occurs. Material decay transmutes lived spaces into frames for loss and references to afterlife. Symbolic images are altered through removal techniques that include scratching, hole-punching, and multi-media collage on a 16mm film print, making vacancy a focal point.
Screened with Urban Video Project at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York.
