There Is Ringing Inside, It Is Evening is a short film comprised of solo and collaborative performances which are projected, looped and accompanied by the live score of an audio installation, screened in solo exhibition 'There is Ringing Inside, It is Evening.' These performances address the loss of my partner and an attempt to connect with his absent figure through interactions with vacancies in the frame and ritual bells - a reference to Bell, his middle name. Analog animation is layered into the film by intermittently removing figures through scratching and hole-punching a 16mm print. Some footage is split-processed and developed by hand.
The trailer’s audio mimics the installation, using both an original audio file that was played through a transducer onto a singing bowl in the exhibition space and recordings of the sonic installation itself. 2023.
