Ambient Sound Healing is a collaborative project that explores lineages of grief, rupture and colonization. The film knits together 7 years of performances and off-cuts that use environment and ritual gesture to reckon with loss and transcend the contents of their frames. Multi-instrumentalists and sound artists Navarro and Diongue use instruments linked to their respective heritages to create an experimental soundscape improvised during the screening of the film. This project is evolving and will exhibit repeatedly--new footage will be added in response to prior performances and to the musicians movements as they perform with their instruments. Future iterations of this project seek to complicate the sonic environment with text-on-screen as an expansive approach to accessibility and imagination.
