Ambient Sound Healing is a collaborative project that explores lineages of grief, rupture and colonization. These films knits together 7 years of performances and off-cuts that use environment and ritual gesture to reckon with loss and transcend the contents of their frames. Multi-instrumentalists and sound artists Navarro and Diongue use instruments linked to their respective heritages to create an experimental soundscape improvised during the screening of the films. This project evolves and exhibits repeatedly--new footage is filmed in response to prior performances and to the musicians’ movements as they play their instruments.
